Book review: Effortless - Greg Mackeown

This article is my output after reading Effortless - Greg Mackeown [1]. As in my assumption, I have been overwhelmed by many essential tasks I thought. When I found this book, it attracted me. I wanted to apply what I learn from the book to my life.

The book is constructed by 3 parts.

  • Part 1. Effortless State
  • Part 2. Effortless Action
  • Part 3. Effortless Result

Here are some important ideas in the book. It's about how to do. It's about changing your cognitions and focus to specific one.

  • Part 1. Effortless State
    • Invert: Invert a way to achieve your goal with easiest and funnest way. Find a way to solve the most core problem. Observe. If your task is hard, something is wrong.
    • Release: The 1st step.
  • Part 2. Effortless Action
    • Start: What is your easiest, smallest and essential 1st step for your big vision? If you feel that the step is still big, split it.
    • Simplify: Reduce the steps as much as possible with zero based oriented. Are the steps really needed?
  • Part 3. Effortless Result
    • Define: What "done" looks like. Imagine the "done" for 1 minutes.
    • Automate: Do it once, and never again. Effortless system.
